Great Shake Out Earthquake Drill . Please don’t plan on checking your child out for a doctor/dentist appointment between that day. It is best to check out BEFORE or AFTER the drill. The whole State of California will be preparing for the “Big one” at this time. We will be practicing evacuating the building and running real life scenarios for the Search and Rescue Team.
***In the event of a real earthquake and you want to check your child out, you will need to go to the Reunion Gate by the Plunge on Mariposa and SIGN YOUR CHILD OUT. Only those on the emergency contacts you entered in the system at the beginning of the year will be allowed to check out a student. If you take your child without signing them out, Search & Rescue Team will spend valuable time and energy looking for a child, who is already safe and endanger their own lives and/or the lives of others. DO NOT GO INTO THE SCHOOL BUILDING! The scene will be traumatic. BREATHE, be patient and stay calm. Don’t be part of the problem. Be helpful. Get control of your emotions, so the children don’t feed off your negative energy. It is scary enough for them. Know we are doing everything we can to get people out safely.
Take this opportunity to talk to your children about what to do in an earthquake at home. Be sure to include in your emergency plan instructions on what to do in the event that you are injured. Where should your child go and who should he/she contact? All families should fill out and return the Family Emergency Earthquake Plan sheet (attached to this email) to their teachers.
