The Reflections Arts Recognition Program is a national arts recognition and achievement program for students. Since 1969, over 10 million students across the nation have taken part in this popular PTA program.
I am Amy Grant, RSS PTA's Reflections Coordinator. My two kids entered last year, and they were so excited to win first place in their categories for RSS and for the district. One entered the Photography category, and the other entered in Film Production. Both made their entries primarily on an iPhone. I spent a little time having the photo printed and gluing it to a piece of cardboard, burning the video to DVD and making sufficient copies, and helping the kids fill out the forms, but it was worth it. The kids tell me they want to enter every year.
Next year's theme is, "What is your Story?" Students can choose from six categories to express the theme: Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Musical Composition, Dance Choreography, and Film Production. To learn more visit the Reflections Website at:
Students at RSS compete in three groups: K-2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, and Special Artist (for all grades). Entries must be the original work of one student only. The Title and Artist Statement are required. Enter in as many categories as you would like. No copyrighted material may be used (except for music in the choreography and film categories).
Click the category to find out how to submit an entry. Good luck!
